Baseus PrimeTrip VD1 Pro: Guide to Connectivity

Connecting Your Dash Cam to Your Car

Naturally, the first step is to connect the car to the dash cam. Fortunately, the VD1 Pro is an effortless plug-and-play dash cam, making it much easier to figure out how to connect dash cam to car power. The VD1 Pro does not require a hardwire kit, staying continuously connected with a power cable instead. It also provides 7 to 14 days of parking surveillance, supporting Collision Detection and saving emergency footage. So, let’s get to the easy setup.

Step 1: Choose the best mounting position and cable route inside your car. Clean the area where the camera will go.

Step 2: Remove the 3M adhesive backing and attach the anti-static sticker to the inside of the windshield.

Step 3: For the front camera, mount the dash cam near the rearview mirror and within the windshield wiper's sweep for optimal viewing. The camera has a 30° fine-tuning angle for the best positioning. For a rear camera, install it at the center of the back windshield. Route the cables as shown below.

Step 4: Use the included 3.6 m power cable to connect the dash cam to the car charger. Insert the car charger into the vehicle's cigarette lighter.

Step 5: Tuck the power cable along the interior trim. Use the pry tool to secure the cable and keep it out of the driver's line of sight.

Step 6: Turn on the vehicle to check whether the dash cam screen lights up. Select your preferred language and set the correct time zone.

Step 7: Insert the SD card into the device and format it. The microSD card must be formatted before first use. The device has an auto-format function; simply confirm when prompted after inserting the card.

Now that the dash cam is set up inside the car, you can focus on getting your phone connected to the dash cam’s Wi-Fi.

Connecting Your Phone via Wi-Fi

First, scan the QR code to download the Baseus app, then follow the instructions to set it up. Then, you need to set up your dash cam with your phone by following these instructions:

Step 1: Enable the Wi-Fi on the dash cam and on your phone.

Step 2: Open the WLAN settings on your phone and select the 5GHz Wi-Fi named "VD1 Pro 4K-xxxx".

Step 3: Enter the default password of "12345678" and tap "Connect".

Step 4: Return to the Baseus app to complete the dash cam connection.

Now, to make sure we’ve covered all our bases, we’ve also gone through some troubleshooting to help you maintain a stable connection at all times.

Common Dash Cam Connectivity Problems

Dash cams are critical in a fast-paced world where a simple fender bender could cost you, or to keep your valuables safe, or simply to remember every journey the way it happened. Let’s look at some typical connectivity issues you might run into on that trip.

Dash Cam Not Connecting to Phone

So, what if the dash cam is not connecting to your phone? This could be a simple case of Wi-Fi instability. Try restarting both devices and reconnecting the dash cam to your phone. Remember that app viewing will only work when your phone is physically close to the car and connected to the dash cam’s Wi-Fi.

Dash Cam Wi-Fi Not Working

If you find the dash cam Wi-Fi password not working, you should first ensure that the Wi-Fi hotspot is on and that the app can find and connect to the device "VD1 Pro 4K". Try turning off your phone’s mobile data to see if that helps.

Dash Cam Keeps Disconnecting

Press the power button to turn it on manually. Ensure that the cable is securely connected to the correct power port and not the rear-camera port. This device requires a 5V/1.5A input. Do not use chargers with higher voltage, as the cam might not switch on. Use the car's original charger or USB cable. If this doesn’t work, try using another car charger or cable.

Dash Cam Not Recording

If you’re thinking, "Why is my dash cam not recording? " Please remember that once the dash cam displays: "APP connected successfully, continuous recording in progress; device operation locked," the cam will continue to record in the background while you browse or operate the app.
